This
songwriter’s heart grew up in the mountains of
South Carolina and the foothills of Alabama.
His first music memories are of all day church singings, Appalachian folk and
traditional country. From these experiences, Farmer
developed his own sense of songwriting. This sense and style grew as he honed
his musical skills performing throughout Alabama and along the Gulf Coast.
Dan’s powerful lyrics and guitar combine to make something truly magical
happen with each song he delivers. Currently,
Dan appears regularly with the popular band Crooked Road, and has performed
among Nashville songwriting circles at the famed Bluebird Café and Douglas
Corners. Dan also performs with friends and co-writers at venues and events
around Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and North Carolina. Recently,
Dan and long time friend and co-writer Janet Hall O’Neil, played for sold out
shows at Birmingham’s Red Mountain Theatre Company’s 2007-2008 Concert
Series. They continue to sell out shows at The Local Color Café in Springville,
Alabama. Dan and Janet, accompanied
by Marc Navez and Kent Peterson, headlined the Saturday night show on the Oasis
Stage at Birmingham’s 2008 City Stages Festival. Crooked
Road has released two CDs with title cuts penned by Dan; "Crooked
Road" and "Lake Forgetful".
For years Farmer, and Crooked Road, have entertained a large following in
venues including WorkPlay, Superior Grill, and Marty's.
The band has also been featured at music festivals such as Birmingham's
City Stages, Mobile's Bayfest, Riverfest in Gadsden, Big Spring Jam in
Huntsville and the Briarfield Music Festival. Dan’s
solo CD is available at live shows or by contacting him at: danfarmersongs@bellsouth.net.

time and again, I can say without hesitation, he is not your average
singer/songwriter. Dan Farmer is a songwriter extraordinaire. His songs are like
stones in a creek that have been shaped by time and experience. The music is
smooth and full of imagery. He
paints pictures with his words….pictures about life here in the South….Make
no mistake, Dan is no imitation. His
music is the real deal”. |
